2010 State Wide Election Results
Senate Republican Campaign Committee Donates to Colbeck
This is interesting! A Tea Party supported winner for the 7th Senate District Patrick Colbeck gained $44,000 from the Senate Republican Campaign Committee during this election cycle. Two questions come to mind here, who would benefit from this donation the most and will he abandon his Tea Party principles because of this donation? Being as only a hand full of Republicans are returning to the Senate I would suggest that who ever is running for the leadership role is trying to buy his vote for that position! Tea Party’s Bite is as Big as its Bark
In April, an Associated Press analysis of the tea party movement concluded it was “unlikely to dramatically affect the congressional elections.” That analysis was carried by news sites and newspapers  throughout the country. The mainstream media, they thought we were a joke,” said Jason Gillman, a Traverse City tea party activist who won his election Tuesday as a County Commissioner. I knew we would have an impact at the first tea party in 2009. I saw people that were like me. I said, ‘You know what? We got something here. Then, the district took another decisive turn toward tea party influence when tea party-backed candidate Dan Benishek knocked off heavily favored GOP incumbent state Sen. Jason Allen, who had been labeled a RINO by critics. Benishek won the primary over Allen by just 15 votes.

The Real Work Is After the Election
People sometimes ask if the Mackinac Center gets busier around election time. My answer is: “Not really. The real work is keeping the rascals accountable after they get elected.”
Toledo Beach Marina in LaSalle Township, Monroe County in foreclosure
Lenders have foreclosed on Toledo Beach Marina in LaSalle Township, but officials assert that it will continue operating for the foreseeable future. “I don’t think myself or the lender have any intent to shut the marina down,” said Peter D. Anzo, one of three limited partners who own the facility. “We think it’s a great facility and a great location. It’s no one’s intention to stop the operation of the marina whatsoever.” The Business closures just keep on a coming here in Monroe County!
Government’s Best Kept Financial Secret
The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) is a very little known, yet detailed presentation of a US governmental entity’s financial condition. The CAFR is also one of government’s best kept financial secrets, as these reports show that almost all governments have far more money than people would ever suspect. Literally hundreds of billions of dollars are available to governments in investment accounts that are never mentioned to the public, as verified in these publicly available government reports. Read the powerful essay below to find out how we may be in much less fiscal difficulty than you ever imagined.
Death of the American Dream
I remember growing up in a small community where the Pledge of Allegiance was said each morning without fail, and we were vehemently taught that America was the land of opportunity where even the poorest of men (or women) could become whatever they wanted.
10 Signs The U.S. is Becoming a Third World Country
The United States by every measure is hanging on by a thread to its First World status. Saddled by debt, engaged in wars on multiple fronts with a rising police state at home, declining economic productivity, and wild currency fluctuations all threaten America’s future.
Home Prices Could Fall 20% More
For a while, it seemed the housing crisis had been averted. Earlier this year, prices started inching back up, foreclosures slowed and falling mortgage rates were expected to boost sales. The government’s housing credit of $8,000 helped cause a spike in home sales, but the effect quickly wore off.
Republican Tom DeLay corruption trial begins
DeLay is charged with money laundering and conspiracy to commit money laundering. If convicted of money laundering, he faces from five years to life in prison. The conspiracy charge carries a prison term of two to 20 years. DeLay and two associates — Jim Ellis and John Colyandro — are accused of taking $190,000 in corporate money collected by a state political action committee that DeLay started and illegally funneling it through the Republican National Committee in Washington to help elect Republican state legislative candidates in 2002.

Fifty years after the pill, another birth control revolution might be on the horizon: free contraception for women in the U.S., thanks to the new health care law.
Limbaugh Ranks Palin, Christie in Tie Atop List for 2012 Presidential Candidates
Firebrand conservative Rush Limbaugh ranks former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie in a tie at 8 on a scale of 1 to 10 when asked to rate a list of the leading 2012 Republican presidential candidates, according to a Newsweek report. Limbaugh, who is on Newsweek’s cover this week for ranking first on a “Power 50” list of pundits and politicos, contends that a continued “hell-no” strategy is required to achieve the goals of the grass-roots conservative tea party movement.
Barbara Boxer scolds the General
A few months ago Barbara Boxer asked an Army general who was testifying in front of her senate committee to call her senator instead of ma’am because, she informed him, she worked so hard for that title. Well, David Zucker of Airplane and Naked Gun fame has made that the subject of his latest political ad.
Baby Boomers: Get Out of the Stock Market Now, the Rug is Being Pulled Out By Insiders
If you’re a baby boomer who still believes in the stock market since the financial collapse of 2008, listen up. The floor of this Ponzi scheme is about to drop out, leaving you punching a clock for some time to come and holding an empty retirement bag for your effort.  The engineered crash is coming and the elite are jumping ship in droves — you should join them and get out ASAP.
Why Are Elders Stirring the Tea Party Movement?
Media descriptions of the conservative movement’s protests are incomplete without references to a Walmart’s worth of wheelchairs and walkers amid a sea of gray heads. Surveys of tea party supporters have found that half are over age 55 and something like a third are 65 or older.
Most Americans Say the Recession Isn’t Over Yet
Economists may say the most recent recession ended about 16 months ago, but most people aren’t buying it.
Why the Fed’s ‘Trickle-Down Economics’ Is Failing
The heart of the Federal Reserve’s policy to extricate the nation from the lasting grip of a deep recession is in essence a variation of what’s known as “trickle down economics.” The government aims to boost the net income of the wealthiest Americans, so that as these top earners spend, their wealth will “trickle down” to average Americans via service and production jobs.
Sen. Gregg Warns US: ‘We’re Greece’ in a Few Years
Sen. Judd Gregg, R-N.H., warns that if the United States doesn’t quickly cut its deficit and debt, it will become like Greece in a few years.
Every government degenerates when trusted to the rulers of the people alone. The people themselves, therefore, are its only safe depositories.
